Outbreak of Genius
Don’t worry that it might be contagious.
Some epidemics are advantageous.
Many years ago there lived some folks,
Who all became famous, and I'm not making jokes.
They lived near each other in a town,
And for different reasons becamerenown.
Brilliant as were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson,
They were Henry Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
They spent many hours each day in conversation.
Discussing ideas from their rich imagination.
If a note is sent from school telling your parents there’s been a outbreak,
That your child might be contagious; it's no doubt a mistake
It might be the very one that happened long ago,
When an outbreak of genius created the America we know.
