prey: the target of an attack.

example: My cat is good at sneaking up on her prey because she can sit and wait without moving a muscle for hours at a time.

nab: to catch or snatch, especially suddenly.

example:  When my brother turned to look out the window, I nabbed a cookie from his plate.
