probe: to search or examine thoroughly.

example: The radio announcement called the space ship a probe because it was trying to find a place to land on the comet.

protect: to guard against injury or harm.

example: Mom insists I wear my raincoat to protect my school clothes from getting wet.

viruses: germs or bugs too small to see that can get into living cells in living creatures and cause illnesses:

example:  The doctor said I have a virsus and should stay in bed, rest and drink lots of liquids.
