SnowBirds
When rivers are frozen and there’s white stuff around,
And the crunching of snow underfoot on the ground,
Is what you hear and ice is everywhere you look,
Makes you want to stay inside, cuddled with a good book.
You chance seeing a plane flying by and you guess,
That the plane is taking others away from this mess.
To places where the temperature is always warm,
And sunny and clear is the regularnorm.
Let’s be snowbirds, and get out of the cold.
Shoveling snow can really get old.
But your parents look at you as if you are crazy.
You have to go to school, stop acting lazy!
Wouldn’t it be better to pack up a swimsuit or two,
And get out of town when it's below thirty-two?
Your parents don't listen, they ignore yourrequest.
They bundle you up and say don't look so depressed!
The one thing winter, they assure you will bring
Is delight in April when the season is spring.
